Five things you need to know about Frankie Blake
She's a self-proclaimed donut-a-holic
The first time I walked into VooDoo Donuts I was in love, there is nothing like them on earth! It was my tradition that every Saturday I would get up early and get myself a Captain my Captain, The Loop and a Triple Chocolate Penetration and make my way down to the farmers market and just people watch and draw and write. And shop. I loved shopping at the farmers market. I always found the coolest things there. There would always be the best music to dance to. My favorite days were when it was drizzly, but not so rainy you got wet, and the steel drums were out. I still will occasionally have VooDoo shipped out to New York. I can't help it, they are a little taste of home! I was so excited to find out that I would be in Portland for the Twilight movies. Donuts!
She and Ainsley Preston like to get dirty!
Oh my word. He will never let me live it down, but it was my first week in a new high school and I got set up by the popular girls in school. Really, it was something out of a John Hughes movie. And I got detention. So of course that meant that I was conscripted into painting the sets for the winter musical. And, I am such a klutz, I was on a ladder painting a tree and I knocked my paint can over and totally splashed him. Luckily he's awesome and we ended up friends. Now it's my mission to get as much paint on him at random moments as possible. After watching the Princess Diaries I filled balloons with paint and got darts and we totally went to town. I drag him to paint ball. I have been known to just randomly throw paint on him for the fun of it
She wants to write the next great American novel
I love to write. I've been jotting down stories since I was six. I always have a notebook on me. I just love getting lost in words. Writing them, reading them, painting them. When I was sixteen my mom and I moved out to New York City and I was reading a lot of Capote and Mailer and Ginsberg and was so excited to be in this huge city just experiencing everything. That was definitely during my creative non-fiction days. Now I lean more towards fiction, although sometimes I will still sit on a bench and do some observational writing. But, as soon as I'm sure it's done, I want to get my novel out there.
She had three left feet!
It's so embarrassing. I am the worlds worst dancer ever. EVER. I danced with Ainsley once at prom and I swear, when it rains, he walks with a limp. I was wearing heels and I'm pretty sure not even steel-toed boots would have saved him! Most of the time I look like a fish that is gasping for air. I was dancing once and just fell down. And I was sober! It's definitely better if I just sway to the music or dance in my chair. People get hurt when I try anything fancier then that. I can't even talk about the time I was dancing with the guy in a club and accidentally kneed him.
Her favorite thing about summer is...
The Island! I'm not kidding I love hanging out on Long Island during the summer. I will just take the LIRR and hang out on the beach, try and sneak into parties. My first summer in the city, a few of us snuck into South Hampton and pretended we were trust fund kids. It didn't go well. But at least once a summer I go and eat at Lunch and spend the day in Montauk. I can't wait until it gets nice and warm. First day, and I am there!
